We have all had our fair share of back pain, being the lower-, middle- or upper back.

There are numerous reasons why you might be suffering from back pain. I believe posture is the biggest culprit when it comes to back pain. Most of us have desk jobs and are stationary in one position for hours at a time. Moving around during the day is very important. Try to take a quick 5 minute walk every 1-2 hours. This will improve not only your back but also your blood flow and concentration.

Focussing on your posture while sitting, walking and standing is very important. Keep your shoulders open and your back straight. For most of us this will be very uncomfortable as our back muscles need to work a bit harder. The easiest way to know if your posture is correct stand up straight and connect your hands behind your back and relax. This is the perfect posture. After some time of practicing, you will no longer need to hold your hands at your back.

When picking up things that are heavy, it is very important to focus on not using your back but your legs. Also try to keep your back straight. There is also a possibility of over stretching. Never over twist, over bend or over stretch if you have any type of back pain. Take it slow and stop as soon as it becomes too uncomfortable.

Other factors causing back pain may include the following:

  • Being over weight
  • Smoking
  • Pregnancy
  • Sleeping position
  • Stress
  • Depression
  • Osteoporosis
  • Excessive exercise

To ease an aching back, pour some Arnica oil into a warm bath. Soak in the water for 15-20 minutes. Dry ourself off and rub some more Arnica oil on areas where needed. You can also make use of Ozone Therapy. Ozone Therapy fights inflammation, increases cellular respiration in muscles, Ozone speeds up recovery of damaged tissue and accelerates growth of muscle.

What will you do about your nagging back?
